SW Book of the Month: Rupi Kaur
Hello Lovelies,
It’s that time again when we get together, have a glass and take in the love that comes from the beauty of community.
Sara Weinstock’s book of the month series is here to get women together and build that foundation of support we all need on this journey in defining our feminine. We read books that are for women and by women. #ForUsFromUs
Like a cluster of diamonds that hold each other up to create something beautiful, we will build each other up to be the beautiful creations we were made to be. So let’s read together, and learn together!
Last month we read Elaine Welteroth’s fabulous book More Than Enough: Claiming Space for Who You Are (No Matter What They Say). It made us ready to take on the world! This month’s book is a little different and perfect for that busy schedule that’s kicked in full force.
Rupi Kaur’s The sun and her flowers is a collection of original poetry that illustrates the beautiful and occasionally chaotic journey of love. But this isn’t just our romantic comedy kind of love. Kaur dives into the topics of growth and healing. She shows the importance of self-love and self-empowerment and the path it takes to find that. The book is divided into five chapters to show this journey as seen through the phases of a flower--wilting, falling, rooting, rising and blooming.
The sun and her flowers has been a long-awaited second collection from Kaur after her #1 New York Times best seller milk & honey--a collection about the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss and femininity. At just the age of 26, Kaur has had her voice translated into over 30 languages and continues to illustrate the beauty in, as she calls it, drawing your heart out--being authentic and true to yourself.
Kaur’s poetry has taught us that there’s so much beauty and power in vulnerability. Being able to warmly embrace it allows progression in the journey of defining our feminine.
We at SW love a woman like Rupi Kaur who is wholeheartedly fearless!
To take on this journey fearlessly, we’ve chosen a few pieces we think will help you remember those defining moments that Kaur hopes we authentically and positively remember.
Stacking can be meaningful--they represent layers that create a whole image of beauty.
To represent those loving delicate moments we’ve chosen the Eternity Band. Its feminine ethereal beauty can easily play as a reminder of those moments that make us feel warm inside.
For fun moments, stack our Isadora Hexagon Full Ring. When stacking that unique shape you’ll be reminded how the pieces of life all fall into place and fit together to make something beautiful--that something beautiful is you!
To remind us that we’re fashionably amazing, go for our Isadora Cushion Eternity Ring. Although the shape may be square, there’s nothing square about us.
Remember to love you no matter what part of the journey you’re on and if you need a little reminder of how far you’ve come look at that stack and see the shining strong woman you’re becoming.
