The ReSet Collective Part II | Our Pendants REVEALED & Auctioned for Charity
I recently told you about the incredible journey that De Beers took fellow jewelry designers Julez Bryant, Jennie Kwon, Jade Trau, Zoë Chicco and myself on in our previous journal, The ReSet Collective. We travelled to the Southern African country of Botswana, home to one of De Beers’ diamond mines, to follow the life and journey of a diamond.
What we witnessed was nothing short of amazing.
On this journey of a De Beers diamond, we learned about the process of uncovering diamonds and the positive social impact they have had in the community. We were so inspired by all of this that Julez, Jennie, Jade, Zoe and myself came together and each created a pendant commemorating our experience and what impacted us the most from our journey—while using the sustainable and ethically-sourced diamonds from De Beers, of course. And while we previously shared only ideas and sketches, we now have the opportunity to share with you our finished, masterful pieces.
Modeling our beautiful pendants is the gorgeous Indira Scott, who closed Dior’s Haute Couture show in her debut season and has modeled for Balmain, Prabal Gurung, Ralph Lauren and Altuzarra—to name a few. Touched by the power of what sustainable and ethically sourced diamonds can do, Indira wore each pendant with pride and elegance.
“I feel a lot more confident and comfortable with the idea of wearing diamonds, knowing where they come from and knowing that it’s coming from a special and ethical place.” —Indira Scott
The ReSet pendants will be available only at a Sotheby’s online auction from December 10-17, 2020, with prices beginning around $20,000 and proceeds of sales going toward Stepping Stones International in Botswana and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in the U.S.
These incredible charities were chosen for the amount of work they do in the U.S. and Botswana. The vision of Stepping Stones International is to create a world where children and youth are empowered, become leaders and achieve their dreams. They work to unlock the potential of vulnerable children and youth ages 12-25 through holistic development, strengthening families and activating sustainable opportunities to become self-sufficient.
The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans.
Once again thank you to De Beers Group for the amazing opportunity to be part of the ReSet Collective and to Vogue and Forbes for these wonderful tributes, which you can read below.
